Summer programmes

MEZA was a 2 week summer program that explored these questions: What is culture? What does it mean to interact 'responsibly' with a community outside of your own? How does one culture influence another?

Through practical workshops in theatre, music, photography, dance, food and other cultural activities, students explored how to maximise the potential that the arts hold in bringing communities together. Participants were guided by different artists in residence; and explored themes like the Global South, sustainable livelihoods, colonialism / neo- colonialism, globalization and economic development.
Our artists in residence were Grand Master Masese (Kenya, Music); Anna Kirsten Le Harivel (New Zealand, Food) & Nandita Dinesh (India, Theatre). The programme also included a visit to Ahmedabad where the students worked with the Budhan Theatre & the Darpana Academy for the Performing Arts.
