Art exhibition - first year students

As a precursor to what may come next year for some IB art students, first year students spent some time with their teacher Nandu, researching and observing the rise of the installation movement which began in the sixties as a political statement against galleries and buyers dictating the future of art.
The students were not given a specific topic or theme but were simply asked to choose unconventional art materials along with a space somewhere on campus and try to integrate the objects into the space in a personal way. Installations were only available for viewing either at a specific time or within a few hours in late afternoon or evening so it was so much fun, with timetable of the art installations in hand and a plan of some sort, to try and get them all in within the limited time frame.

All the exhibits were wonderful and a lot of thought had been put into them. It was also especially encouraging to hear that the students were not graded for their efforts. Well done first year art students and Nandu for all your hard work which was much appreciated by the whole community!

See the slide show of pictures in the right hand navigation bar for photos of almost all the exhibits and apologies to those students who I was unable to photograph due to time constraints!
